XD10 Digital Playback System, Installation and Operating Guide Version 1.0
Caution: Because the XD10, like any other computer-based system, can be damaged by
power line surges, we recommend using a computer-grade surge/spike suppresser.
4. Connect the analog and logic cables/cards to your cinema sound processor. (See Appendix B for
installation diagrams – including installation into sound racks containing digital sound systems from
Dolby and/or Sony.)
If installing to a SMART cinema processor, contact SMART directly at (800) 45-SMART.
DTS does offer SMART interface cables: for MODVI or VII use DTS #E709.
2.4.3.2. Rack Mount Considerations
If this product is installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the following items must be considered.
• The ambient temperature within the rack may be greater than room ambient temperature. The
maximum temperature for the equipment in this environment is 50°C. Consideration should
be given to the maximum rated ambient.
• Ensure adequate airflow for cooling purposes on all sides of rack-mounted equipment.
Ventilation fans and louvers must not be blocked.
• Check nameplate ratings to ensure there is no overloading of supply circuits that could have
an effect on over-current protection and supply wiring.
• Reliable grounding of this equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be
given to supply connections when connecting to power strips, rather than direct connections
to the branch circuit.
• A quality surge/spike suppresser power strip is recommended to protect the unit.
